When the New York Jets play the Denver Broncos on Sunday, Aaron Rodgers hopes to lead his team to victory once more. However, the star quarterback maintains that his relationship with Sean Payton does not provide him with any extra motivation.

When Payton was originally appointed head coach of the Broncos last season, he took a hard line on Nathaniel Hackett’s coaching staff. In addition to other things, Rodgers spoke up for Hackett, telling Payton to “keep my coach’s name out of his mouth.”

Then, in the regular season, the Jets defeated the Broncos. After rupturing his Achilles, Rodgers was forced to miss time and quickly attacked Payton on social media.

Rodgers seems to be over it now. A reporter questioned Rodgers on Wednesday about if he had given Payton’s remarks any thought as he was ready to play the Broncos in Week 4. The beef was deemed “old news” by Rodgers.

“No, it’s no longer news. Everyone has said comments they wish they could take back. I’m sure that occasionally things have been said and taken out of context, but I honestly hadn’t given it any attention until you brought it up,” Rodgers remarked.

Maybe Rodgers felt that Payton had been sufficiently provoked to retract his remarks regarding Hackett.

at addition to New York, Rodgers and Hackett collaborated at Green Bay from 2019 to 2021 while Hackett was the team’s offensive coordinator. Although there have been rumors that the two’s connection isn’t as strong as it once was, Rodgers has always refuted those claims.
