Fulham star signed by the club is now under scrutiny; huge expenditure so far seems futile

Since Joao Palhinha is not a vital member of Vincent Kompany’s team, his summer transfer from Fulham to Bayern Munich is now being openly questioned. Didier Hamann made remarks for Fussball News today in which he questioned Bayern’s decision to invest a significant amount of money for the Portuguese midfield player. After the turmoil of the previous summer, when Fulham had to postpone a transfer at the last minute because they couldn’t find a substitute, he ultimately made the move to Bayern for €51 million. With just three appearances and 35% of the minutes played in the Bundesliga thus far, he has not lived up to the expectations that he would be a major player under Kompany this season.

Although there have been inquiries, Bayern has taken action to dispel them, with Palhinha publicly stating that he is content with his circumstances. The sporting director of Bayern Munich then made some remarks, adamant that there were no drawbacks and that everything was proceeding as planned. But Hamann doesn’t seem to be having any of it, questioning why the midfield player was signed from Fulham considering the part he plays. “The middle midfielders and defenders are pretty much always the same,” he remarked. “(Kompany) will let his strongest squad to play once more, and Palhinha probably won’t be there.” Pavlović is currently untouchable, while Kimmich, the deputy captain, is currently leading the German national team.
