Alexander Zverev FUMES as he urges reporters to not ask him about settled assault case with ex-girlfriend after he was accused of strangling the mother of his child during domestic legal claim |

Alexander Zverev agreed to a settlement after his child’s mother accused him of physical abuse, and the matter was concluded by a German court on Friday, according to the French Open semifinalist’s lawyers.

According to German media, the deal contains a monetary condition of €200,000 ($217,820), assuming the player is not found guilty of any misconduct.

“The process against Alexander Zverev was shelved today by the court with the agreement of the prosecutor’s office and Ms Brenda Patea,” the player’s attorneys stated in a statement. “Alexander Zverev agreed to this… in order to expedite the process, particularly for the sake of their child together. Alexander Zverev remains innocent.”

The verdict comes just hours before Zverev, 27, will face Casper Ruud in the French Open quarterfinals on Friday.

They had a daughter in 2021, but they were no longer together.

In January 2023, the ATP concluded an inquiry initiated after another ex-girlfriend, tennis player Olga Sharypova, accused Zverev of domestic violence. The ATP claimed insufficient evidence as the reason for withdrawing the lawsuit.

The ATP said in a statement that it was aware of Friday’s settlement and was analysing the details.
