Taijuan Walker’s return to the starting lineup did not go well. He was pulled after 3.1 innings on Thursday night after giving up eight runs on six hits. Afterward, someone sent me this GoFundMe that is attempting buy out one of the two remaining years of his contract:

At first check, $0 of the $18,000,000 was raised, so I guess Bill just made it. He must have been that mad. The only thing the description says is “The Phillies obviously can’t bring themselves to buyout Taijuan Walkers contract…so it’s up to us fans. Every little bit helps.” I threw five bucks in there to get it started, but admittedly felt a little bad. Walker seems like a decent dude, and pitched three scoreless innings out of the bullpen the other night. But his ERA has ballooned to Hindenburg size and his season has been equally disastrous, so it is what it is. A swing and a miss from Dave Dombrowski, but you can’t get everything right. The good thing is that you don’t need a 5th starter in the playoffs, so one more appearance from Walker or whomever and we’re down to four for Red October.
