Veterans Marcus Morris and Landry Shamet are added to the roster of Knicks’ training camp.

Marcus Morris and Landry Shamet, two veterans, were signed by the New York Knicks to Exhibit 9 contracts, the organization announced on Monday.

A type of non-guaranteed contract that enables players to participate in team training camps is the Exhibit 9 contract. This implies that while Morris and Shamet are protected in the event of an injury and get compensation during training camp, their inclusion on the 15-man roster is not assured.

In 2023–24, Morris—who is about to start his 14th NBA season—played 49 games in total with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Philadelphia 76ers. He shot 40.3% from three-point range and averaged 6.4 points and 2.7 rebounds.
Shamet, however, has played in the NBA for six years. He played with the Washington Wizards for the entirety of the previous campaign, where he averaged 7.1 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists while making 33.8% of his field goals.

Morris and Shamet both have the potential to add depth to the Knicks club, which has had trouble staying healthy in previous years, if they have strong training camps. This is especially true for Morris, who has the ability to stretch the floor and his league experience to make him a solid bench contributor.
