NEW ORLEANS — Taysom Hill, a former BYU quarterback, was named captain of the New Orleans Saints prior of the 2024 NFL season.

Over the last six years, Hill has been a jack-of-all-trades for the Saints offense, earning him the title of captain.

The former Cougar is one of New Orleans’ eight captains.

Hill is joined by quarterback Derek Carr, offensive lineman Erik McCoy, defensive end Cameron Jordan, linebacker Demario Davis, safety Tyrann Mathieu, long snapper Zach Wood, and defensive back J.T. Gray.

The Saints will seek a postseason berth after nearly missing out last year.

In 2023, the Saints finished second in the NFC South with a 9-8 record.

Hill and the Saints will begin their regular season against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, September 8.

Prior to his NFL career, the Idaho native played quarterback for BYU. Hill played for the Cougars from 2012 until 2016.

Hill has 6,929 passing yards, 43 touchdowns, and 31 interceptions during his college career. He rushed for 2,815 yards and 32 touchdowns.

After being undrafted, Hill signed a free agent contract with the Green Bay Packers. The Packers waived Hill before the regular season, and the Saints picked him up. Hill has since established himself as an important member of the New Orleans offense.

Throughout his NFL career, Hill has played quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and tight end.

Last season, Hill completed 6/11 passes for 83 yards and a score. He also recorded 33 receptions for 291 yards and two touchdowns. Hill rushed for 401 yards and four touchdowns in 2023.

Throughout his NFL career, he’s scored 49 touchdowns.
