Before the Georgia Bulldogs and Clemson Tigers play in a pivotal college football match in Week 1, tensions are already rising. Don Munson, the radio host for Clemson, focused on Georgia’s academics during a preview of the game on SiriusXM’s Full Ride with Rick Neuheisel and Chris Childers. He dubbed the program’s graduation rate a “embarrassment.”

Munson criticized Georgia for its shortcomings in the area of handling athletes’ life off the field during a discussion about how college football handles them.
Munson stated, “Their graduation rate was at 41 percent.” “And I will not stop saying that; it is embarrassing. It is embarrassing for the people of Athens, the university, and the program simultaneously. They must perform higher than that.
Munson could be right about how colleges prepare athletes for success once they arrive on campus, but few players or fans in Athens during Week 1 will likely be thinking about that.
