With the college football season just days away, Greg McElroy has announced his SEC Championship picks.

McElroy announced his title game and playoff choices on Wednesday’s episode of ‘Always College Football’. He chose Georgia over Texas to win the Southeastern Conference and earn a top-four spot in the CFP.

“Ultimately, I think the SEC Championship will be decided between the Texas Longhorns and the Georgia Bulldogs,” McElroy stated. “We are taking the Georgia Bulldogs to beat Texas in the conference championship.”

McElroy has had questions about the Bulldog defence since last season. Aside from that, he believes they are the club in the conference with the fewest uncertainties about their squad, particularly in terms of depth and who is playing quarterback.

“I look at Georgia, dude, and despite all of the questions about their defence, they still have the finest players. “They still have arguably the deepest roster, and Carson Beck could be the best quarterback,” McElroy remarked.

“Still some things to figure out defensively but Georgia has the fewest question marks,” McElroy shared. “In a league that’s this deep and this talented, I think they can go toe-to-toe with anybody, even in the event in which they have some losses because of injury.”

Georgia and Texas are the SEC’s top contenders as the season begins this fall. With both in Atlanta on December 3rd, McElroy’s eventual league champion will be the ‘Dawgs.

“I think Georgia is going to be in the mix at season’s end – 11-1, 10-2 at the very worst,” commented McElroy.
