The West Indies have announced their lineup for the upcoming ICC World Test Championship against South Africa, which starts on August 7.

Pacer Kemar Roach returned to the team, having last played a Test against Australia earlier this year. He had to withdraw from the England trip after injuring his knee while playing in the County Championship.

However, pacer Alzarri Joseph, the Test side’s vice-captain, was rested to manage his workload. Kevin Sinclair, an off-spinner, also missed out while recovering from an injury.

“We have decided to rest our vice-captain, Alzarri Joseph, for this series,” head coach Andre Coley remarked.

“Alzarri has had a considerable workload recently, and this break will allow him to recuperate and return to peak performance.”

The roster is remarkably identical to the one that played in England during the recent Test series, with Keacy Carty and the uncapped Bryan Charles being the only players without a Test cap.

In Joseph’s absence, wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva was appointed to vice-captain.
