Ex-Tigers, Dodgers pitcher Jack Flaherty looks at injury reporters after trade

The Los Angeles Dodgers made a significant deal at the MLB trade deadline, acquiring Detroit Tigers pitcher Jack Flaherty. Flaherty is expected to provide significant support to the Dodgers’ defense. However, he has been dealing with a back problem that has raised concerns among fans and pundits. Nonetheless, Flaherty told people concerned about his condition that he was doing well.

“All I know is that I’ve felt amazing. I’ve felt fantastic. I felt wonderful since we returned from our break, perhaps even before that. When asked about his injuries, Flaherty responded, “I’ve just been ready to pitch and pretty anxious to get back out there.”

Despite his early July troubles, Jack Flaherty is beginning to feel better. Flaherty has thrown 133 strikeouts in 18 appearances for the Tigers in 2024, ranking him 15th in the league. In addition, he has a 7-5 record and a 2.95 ERA, with a 0.96.

Detroit has not had the season they hoped for, sitting at 52-57 just over halfway through the season. As a result, they believed that moving on from a contributor like Flaherty was the right decision for their squad. The excellent pitcher will focus his efforts on helping the Dodgers maintain their lead in the National League West.

Dodgers go forward following the MLB trade deadline.

Los Angeles has a 63-46 record, placing first in the NL West. They are four victories ahead of the San Diego Padres, who are on fire. The Padres are 9-1 in their past 1 games. To maintain control of the division, LA must keep its foot on the gas pedal.

Once healed from his injuries, Jack Flaherty should help the Dodgers. Los Angeles was not the only team to make a bid for his serviceable pitching. The New York Yankees attempted to sign Flaherty, but things worked out. Fans and commentators assumed that Flaherty’s injury was the reason the Yankees were unable to complete a deal, but GM Brian Cashman clarified what actually happened:

“The Yankees were heavily involved with the Tigers and ‘would have been happy’ to sign Jack Flaherty,” Brian Cashman stated. “We failed because we couldn’t compete on value,” Bryan Hoch of MLB.com posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Despite the worries, the Dodgers traded for Flaherty for a specific reason. They hope he will be able to conjure up ways for the club to continue moving forward. It will be intriguing to see how the 28-year-old pitcher and the Los Angeles Dodgers fare in the second half of the season.
