Bronny James’ selection by the Lakers is likely the greatest story of the 2024 NBA draft. Since declaring for the draft, there has been a lot of conjecture about who would choose Bronny, and whether he would be drafted at all.
The Lakers answered that question by selecting Bronny James with the 55th overall choice, securing his presence in both the NBA and NBA 2K25. However, supporters are already wondering what the rating will be.
Bronny James Rating Prediction:
Perhaps Bronny James’ draft number already answers this question, as a 55 OVR appears appropriate. Rookies typically have a lower rating in NBA 2K, and second-round picks even more so, thus it would be quite surprising if Bronny reached or exceeded the 60 OVR barrier.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Bronny James will likely spend the majority of his first year in the G-League with the South Bay Lakers.
It’s predicted that he’ll hit the court alongside his father, LeBron James, in the first week of the season, as that’s a moment that everyone wants to see and that LeBron has already mentioned.
However, following that, Bronny James should spend a year in the G-League to grow into a true NBA player and realize his unrealized potential. The reality is that, despite being drafted into the NBA, Bronny is still not a true NBA player, at least not yet, though most scouts believe he has the potential to be one in the future.
Take Ben Simmons, for example; there have been reports that his rating in NBA 2K25 will be 66. Ben Simmons’s career hasn’t looked like what most fans expected four or five years ago, but putting everything you think of him aside, which I know is especially difficult if you’re a 76ers fan, Simmons is still a solid NBA player, if not a great.

As for Bronny, he is still on his way to become a competent NBA player, which is understandable given the horrible health issue he experienced last year.
So I estimate Bronny’s rating in NBA 2K25 to be between 55 and 60 OVR, with 55 OVR being my final guess, and I would be astonished if he received a 60 OVR card. But, just like life, you never know what the NBA 2K ratings will bring.
