JUST IN: 49ers Star Nick Bosa Drops Strong Words About Chiefs Game

San Francisco 49ers DE Nick Bosa

For San Francisco 49ers standout Nick Bosa, the next game against the Kansas City Chiefs represents more than just a Super Bowl rematch.

The Chiefs have been the NFL’s best team for the previous five years or so, with two of their three Super Bowl victories coming against the 49ers. Bosa is now 0-3 versus the Chiefs since being selected by the 49ers in the 2019 NFL draft.

Following San Francisco’s 36-24 victory over the Seattle Seahawks on October 20, Bosa spoke about it. It’s evident that the four-time Pro Bowler is eager to capture his first win against the Chiefs.

“Obviously, this was a big one to get, and now we have a little time to get some guys healthy and then, yeah,” Bosa told the crowd. “I mean, we have a long road ahead, and it starts with the team that we haven’t beat yet since I’ve been here, so definitely trying to get the monkey off our back with that one.”

Obviously, it will not be easy. Kansas City is the AFC’s last unbeaten team, with a 5-0 record, and they are also coming off a bye week.

Bosa Looking to Build on Decent Start
Following 15.5 and 18.5 sacks in 2021 and 2022, respectively, Bosa had a fairly disappointing year in 2023. While he still had 10.5 sacks, it was a substantial drop from his 2022 Defensive Player of the Year performance.

With six games in 2024, Bosa has had a good start to the year. He has just three sacks, but he has forced a fumble and intercepted a pass for San Francisco. His expectations are high, so he will expect more in the future, but this is a good start.

And with the Chiefs coming up, Bosa’s track record suggests he could be in for a big game. In three games versus Kansas City, the former Ohio State Buckeye has recorded two sacks, three tackles for loss, and a forced fumble.

Bosa did not record a single sack in the 2024 Super Bowl defeat. But he did hit Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes three times and record two tackles for loss.

49ers’ star downplays Chiefs game.
While Bosa has definitely focused on the Chiefs game, San Francisco tackle Trent Williams is handling it as any other week. Williams stated at the same press conference as Bosa that he has no desire to exact revenge on Kansas City.

“This is another game. I mean, we can’t get back at them for losing the Super Bowl. The ship has sailed. So this is another game. “We have to come out and try to play complementary football,” the Niners lineman stated. “Obviously, we know what type of club it is—one of the finest in the league, with an all-star quarterback and a wonderful coach. So it will be a tough game regardless.”

Interestingly, Williams has never defeated Kansas City in his 14-year NFL career. Williams is 0-2 with the 49ers, and he was also 0-2 in his two games with the Washington Commanders in 2013 and 2017.

For better or worse, two of San Francisco’s most essential players have opposing viewpoints on the Week 7 matchup.
