Split Chain Cover Type O Negative’s “I Don’t Wanna Be Me”

Split Chain

Ahh, Halloween. Beloved by damn near everyone now—I’m looking at you basic bitches, who only care about the holiday because you can have Pumpkin Spice Lattes and act like you know how to do tarot—it’s one of the best times of the year if you love hearing your bands take on tracks from your other favorite bands. Like UK-based nü-gaze band Split Chain have gotten into the Halloween spirit with their latest cover of Type O Negative’s “I Don’t Wanna Be.” Give it a listen below.

The track comes from Type O Negative’s 2003 record Life Is Killing Me, the second to last released before frontman Peter Steele passed away in 2010. Split Chain’s version doesn’t stray too far from the original one, even though you can definitely tell they put their own spin on it. When it comes to the fact that the cover is somewhat a deviation from their usual sound, the band pretty straightforwardly said: “It’s a different vibe, more punk-y and fast, but we feel it encapsulates our fun side.”

Split Chain is playing a few shows this month in their home base and is set to hit the road with Silverstein and Thursday starting on January 10 of next year. You can find tickets for all shows here.
