David Guetta, Alphaville & Ava Max releases ‘Forever Young…
David Guetta collaborated with pop sensation Ava Max on a cover of the popular song Forever Young
Two major musicians have now reimagined the well-known 80s song Forever Young. In 1984, German synth-pop band Alphaville produced and released the iconic song, leaving a lasting mark on the music scene.
About the original
German singer-songwriter Marian Gold’s band Alphaville released Forever Young on their 1984 debut studio album. The synth-pop song, released by Warner, quickly became a big hit in Scandinavia and in the German-speaking areas of Europe. Although it has always been a well-known song, it went viral on TikTok in 2024, generating almost 3 million uploads. No wonder it caught the attention of two-time Grammy-winning French DJ David Guetta. Guetta is no stranger to making covers, and he seems to be having great success at it. Just as an example, his Eiffel 65 cover with Bebe Rexha, I’m Good (Blue), has reached 1 billion streams in less than a year. Now he’s collaborating with Ava Max again, following their 2018 release Let It Be Me.
About the cover
Ava Max is a master of covers, who really knows how to spice up an old tune to suit today’s trends and generation. It was helped a lot by David Guetta, who, after I’m Good (Blue), released other hit covers such as I Don’t Wanna Wait. Their cover of Forever Young starts off with a really uplifting melody, with little snapping sounds in the lead. A well-known male voice sings the famous question “Do you really want to live forever?” accompanied by a soft female voice.
The song, although it follows the dance line, creates a really punchy and thus party-appropriate atmosphere for the drops. David Guetta performed the single for the first time at his F*** ME I’M FAMOUS! residency at Ushuaïa in Ibiza in the summer, and in September Ava appeared, and they performed it together.
Also of interest, Ava Max recently collaborated with Kygo on a cover of Shakira’s classic Whatever.
