‘Bridgerton’ Season 4: Brace Yourself for an Unforgettable Journey, What to Expect From Benedict’s Season

When Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson, was revealed as the main character in Bridgerton season four this morning, the ‘ton was ablaze with rumors.

Following the romance between Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) in season three, Netflix announced that the second-eldest Bridgerton sibling would be on the marriage mart for the upcoming part.

Season four “turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict,” per the logline. Benedict is reluctant to settle down, even though his younger and older brothers are both contentedly married. That all changes, though, when he encounters the enigmatic Lady in Silver at Violet Bridgerton’s (Ruth Gemmell) masquerade event, and Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Colin are ecstatic.

The third volume in Julia Quinn’s novel series, An Offer from a Gentleman, will provide the foundation for Benedict’s season as he pursues Sophie Beckett (spoiler alert!). She was cast aside by her stepmother and made into a servant, thus according to the book’s description, she never imagined that she would slip into the renowned masquerade ball. She feels like royalty there, in Benedict’s embrace, but that feeling is fleeting—it ends at midnight.

The narrative goes on, “Since that enchanted evening, a dazzling vision in silver has rendered Benedict blind to the charms of anybody else—perhaps this seductive and strangely familiar beauty clothed in housemaid’s uniform whom he feels obliged to save from a most disagreeable situation.” “He has vowed to track down and marry his mysterious miss, but his desire for this gorgeous maid weakens him. However, would Benedict forfeit his one and only opportunity for a happily ever after if he gives his heart?

Netflix revealed on September 11 that Yerin Ha has been cast as Sophie Beckett, who will go by Sophie Baek in the TV version of the book.

“I was drawn to Sophie because she faces challenges right away and has to overcome them on a regular basis,” Ha said to Tudum. “Whether it’s the conflict over her social standing or her attempt to keep her emotions from Benedict.”

The Australian-Korean actress from Halo revealed that, as a gesture of respect for Sophie’s culture, showrunner Jess Brownell gave her character the Korean last name of Baek. This allowed her to feel even closer to the character.
“Changing a name can have a significant impact because it’s the first aspect of your identity that the public sees,” Ha stated. It is so empowering to have Sophie’s name match someone who resembles me. Our showrunner, Jess Brownell, deserves all the praise.

It’s a very great way for me to feel like the part is a fit for me, instead than feeling like I have to fit into a specific mold,” she continued. What it can accomplish only in terms of psychology is astounding. So, the fact that Jess done that for me meant a lot.

In an additional discussion with Tudum, Thompson clarified that, in terms of romance and “the actual reality of the world,” season four was more akin to a “proper, old-school fairy tale.”

“And both are accurate,” he went on. “You have to grasp both of them firmly in your hands: the romantic and the practical. “True love” occurs in the midst of that in its ideal form.

There are elements of season four that will appear like a “twist on Cinderella,” the actress said, adding, “You remember being told those stories as a child—the magic and the romance of them.” The season four revolves around the Lady in Silver and a masquerade ball. Having that woven into the Bridgerton universe is incredibly fascinating. In addition to being a fantastic story, I think it’s also really relatable.

Ahead of the season’s formal start in mid-September, Netflix released a first peek at Ha’s Sophie and Thompson’s Benedict.
