Bad Boys: Ride Or Die Continues $404M Success As It Tops Netflix Charts

Bad Boys: Ride or Die is finding success on Netflix. The 2024 movie is the fourth feature-length installment in the long-running franchise, re-teaming Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as Miami detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett respectively, alongside an ensemble cast that also includes Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Paola Núñez, Eric Dane, Ioan Gruffudd, Tiffany Haddish, and Joe Pantoliano. Earlier in the year, the Bad Boys: Ride or Die box office made the movie a hit, grossing $404.2 million against its $100 million budget.

Now, Bad Boys: Ride or Die is topping the Netflix streaming chart in the United States after being added to the streaming platform. The movie landed at No. 1 on the service’s daily movie chart, above quite a few high-performing Netflix originals with IP connections, including the new documentary The Menendez Brothers at No. 2 and the sci-fi horror sequel The Platform 2 at No. 5. It is also significantly outperforming the classic action title 2 Guns, which has been holding strong on the chart since it first appeared the previous week.

Why You Should Watch Bad Boys: Ride Or Die

It’s A Well-Regarded Franchise Installment

One reason to watch the 2024 sequel is the fact that it has united both critics and audiences. On Rotten Tomatoes, it has earned a Fresh score of 65%, marking the second-best rating for any installment in the franchise, which typically sees a wider split between critics and general audiences. Its audience score of 97%, which made it one of the first movies to earn a new Verified Hot badge from the platform, is similarly the best of the four-movie franchise. Below, see how its Rotten Tomatoes scores compare to the previous Bad Boys movies:

The movie also has proved to be an indefatigable draw for audiences across the board. In addition to being the eighth highest-grossing movie of the year at the time of writing, above hits such as Twisters and It Ends with Us, it followed its theatrical success with a hit VOD debut, taking No. 1 on both the iTunes and Fandango at Home charts in July. The fact that its streaming run is proving to be similarly successful shows that the movie is likely both continuing to find new devoted viewers as its release spreads and successfully retaining repeat viewers.

Our Take On Bad Boys: Ride Or Die’s Streaming Success

Bad Boys 5 Could Be On The Horizon

Especially if Bad Boys: Ride or Die continues to perform well on the Netflix chart in the coming weeks, it seems highly likely that the possible Bad Boys 5 will come to fruition. Smith and Lawrence have already expressed interest in reprising their roles, with the caveats that they’d like their younger co-stars to shoulder more of the stunts and that they want their characters to have a grounded reason to return. While the fifth movie has not yet been officially greenlit, the success of the new installment across multiple platforms is undeniable.
