McLaughlin-Levrone was taken aback when Andre Levrone showed up in a sweatshirt on their first date. The former NFL player purposefully dressed like himself, though, in order to show the track and field sensation his “everyday self.” The 25-year-old knew she liked him halfway through their date, but she thought everything was too perfect. That sensation persisted a month into their relationship, and it was one of Levrone’s open admissions that unnerved the Olympic gold medallist.
Following one of their initial dates, the ex-wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens, Andre Levrone, spoke candidly and with greater seriousness. The 25-year-old talked about his beliefs and “aspects of his life others would have concealed,” explaining how leaving football had been a bittersweet sensation. However, for the former world champion, it was too much, too soon. Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone had never been this vulnerable before, having dated more surface-level people who prioritized fun over meaningful communication.

The sprinter first sought advice from her church counselor before deciding to talk with Levrone. She got ready to discuss her worries with Andre the following day since she wanted to establish limits and make sure things weren’t going too fast. Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone wanted to express her emotions in a responsible and morally grounded way. Following the meeting, Levrone composed a speech for her current spouse, heavily relying on Proverbs 4:23, which states, “Above all else, guard your heart.” However, things didn’t go as planned when she spoke with the former NFL player.

Through a mutual friend, Andre Levrone and the Queen of the 400m hurdles had become acquainted. But the hurdler and the former NFL great didn’t get along until Levrone started a conversation online. Though the Olympian accepted to go on a date, she handled the matter cautiously.
