Important change to Premier League transfer regulations that may affect Hull City

In light of the increasing speculation that Premier League clubs will vote to move the deadline for the transfer window closure to the summer, Hull City and the other 71 clubs in the EFL will be closely monitoring events over the coming weeks. The window shutting after the season began has previously infuriated managers in every league, including City manager Tim Walter, who believed it ought to have closed prior to the start of the season.

In 2025, Premier League teams are suggesting that the summer window close on Friday, August 15, in advance of the major kickoff of the top division. Should the Tigers remain in the second division that season, this would inevitably affect the Championship. The EFL and the Premier League have previously collaborated to maintain parity between the two leagues. This summer’s window ends on August 30 at 11 p.m., but an August 15 start date would still occur one week into the EFL season, which is anticipated to start the weekend of August 9 or 10.
