A recent roster change made by the Miami Heat is receiving a lot of positive feedback.

Nassir Little, a two-way wing, inked a one-year contract with the Heat earlier this week. The decision pleased supporters, who couldn’t wait for training camp to start and see new players join the squad. NBA player and former Heat trade target Damian Lillard is among those applauding the acquisition.

Lillard was dealt to the Milwaukee Bucks by the Portland Trail Blazers’ front staff, despite the Heat’s best efforts to acquire him over the whole previous offseason. The 34-year-old is now praising his front office, which was almost his own.

Lillard wrote, “He has it in him,” on his Instagram story. “You heard it here first.”

Little most recently appeared in 45 games with the Phoenix Suns in 2024, averaging 3.4 points and 1.7 rebounds on 46% shooting. The 24-year-old had workouts earlier this month with a number of championship contenders, including the Heat.

Haywood Highsmith was the Heat’s first lockdown forward, but having another one has advantages. Caleb Martin, a playoff riser, was let go by Miami’s front management, leaving a void. Although Jaime Jaquez Jr., a sophomore, is keen to step up into a bigger position, the 6-foot-5 wingsman has proven two-way talent.
