Alexander Zverev was born in Hamburg, Germany, in April 1997 parents Irina and Alexander Mikhailovich Zverev, both former professional tennis players.
His older brother, Mscha, is a professional tennis player who has been rated as high as number 25 in the world.
Alexander Zverev is a former world number one junior who won the junior Grand Slam singles title at the 2014 Australian Open.
He also made an early breakthrough on the professional circuit, becoming one of the youngest Challenger title winners in history at the age of 17.
Belinda Bencic
Earlier this year, rumours circulated that Zverev had been dating teenage tennis sensation Belinda Bencic since 2015.
Belinda, 22, is a Swiss professional tennis player with a career-high Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) ranking of seventh in the world, having previously been ranked as high as 12 in 2019.
The pair had apparently known each other for some years, having won the ITF 2013 Junior World Championships.
Zverev had previously seen with Bencic on Instagram, and the duo appeared to be on vacation abroad.
