Even though Alabama’s defense has only allowed two touchdowns in its first three games this year, defensive coordinator Kane Wommack is still not happy with his team as a whole.

After every game this season, Wommack has expressed his dissatisfaction with Alabama’s defense due to the team’s inability to generate turnovers in their first two games and their inability to consistently stop the run through three games. On Monday, he emphasized the Crimson Tide’s run defense.

With three games played, Alabama has allowed 397 yards on the ground, so Wommack wants to dominate in that area as the Tide head into their bye week before conference play.

“We need to keep moving in the right direction so that we can be a dominant run stopping defense, so this bye week is really important to get some things honed,” Wommack stated. “As a team, I don’t think we are there yet.”

The next game for Alabama is not until after their bye week, on September 28 at Bryant-Denny Stadium, where they will play a crucial conference opener against the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs, one of their biggest SEC rivals.
