The Atlanta Falcons’ first week of play didn’t go as planned. The Falcons fell short of expectations against the Pittsburgh Steelers, despite all the hoopla that followed one of the most exciting offseasons in recent memory.

The Falcons (0-1) only scored 10 points against the Steelers, far short of the expectations that they would have a much better offense in 2024. Kirk Cousins appeared dated and undoubtedly rusty, which was odd considering he was supposed to be the key to the team’s success. Maybe not to the degree that it did, but some of it was expected. In any case, the Falcons’ performance on Sunday fell short of expectations. They are now aiming for significantly better results from Monday Night Football’s Week 2 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles (1-0).

In the first international game of the year, held in São Paulo, Brazil, the Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers after a fierce battle. In order to prepare for Atlanta, Philadelphia will now get an extra two days off. With Atlanta looking to avoid its first 0-2 start in two years, this will help.

The Falcons will be put to the test as they take on a team that qualified for the playoffs six out of the previous seven seasons and was in the Super Bowl just two years ago. Their first Monday night game since 2020 will also take place. Having said that, below are our audacious predictions for Monday Night Football’s Week 3 matchup between the Falcons and Eagles.

Tyler Allgeier scores after Bijan Robinson rushes for at least 100 yards.

Bijan Robinson appears to be the Atlanta Falcons’ top back under offensive coordinator Zac Robinson. Although it shouldn’t come as a surprise, his 18 carries for 68 yards against the Steelers last week appear to support it. Allgeier and he only managed 89 yards on the ground together last Sunday, which was another unsatisfactory aspect of the Falcons offense.

Against the Eagles last week, Josh Jacobs and the Packers’ running attack amassed 163 yards and a touchdown. When the Falcons play Philadelphia in Week 2, they’ll be hoping for a similar result. The rushing attack needs to start as soon as Cousins starts to get his bearings back.
