Former New York Jets defensive tackle Jonathan Marshall worked out for the Packers.

Green Bay, Wisconsin – According to NFL source Aaron Wilson, the Green Bay Packers’ weekly Tuesday free-agent workouts included receivers Seth Williams and Racey McMath, as well as defensive end Jonathan Marshall.

The Denver Broncos selected Williams in the sixth round of the 2021 draft. Before the draft, he stood 6-foot-3 and weighed 211 pounds, with a 4.49 in the 40 and a 37-inch vertical. His Relative Athletic Score was merely 6.92, indicating that he has growing speed rather than abrupt speed.

The Tennessee Titans selected McMath in the sixth round of the 2021 draft. Before the draft, he stood 6-foot-2 1/2 and weighed 217 pounds, with a 4.39 in the 40 and a 34-inch vertical leap. His RAS was 7.44.

T.J. Luther, an undrafted receiver from 2023, was also in Green Bay for the workout. At 5-foot-11 1/4, he has 4.50 speed and a 39-inch vertical, resulting in a 5.85 RAS.

(Update: Luther has signed with the practice squad, according to a source.)

Jonathan Marshall, a defensive tackle selected in the sixth round by the Jets in 2021, was the third drafted player who participated in the exercise. He appeared in four games as a rookie, making two tackles and one quarterback hit.

Marshall spent training camp and preseason with the Jaguars. He recorded one sack this preseason.

Marshall, who had one sack and 6.5 TFLs as a senior at Arkansas in 2020, possesses some untapped talent. In fact, calling Marshall a top athlete would be an understatement. At 6-foot-3 and 310 pounds, he ran the 40 in 4.88 seconds and completed 36 reps on the 225-pound bench. His RAS score was an impressive 9.99.

“I love your get-off,” Jets General Manager Joe Douglas told Marshall after picking him. Coach Robert Saleh joined the chat, saying, “Our D-line is going to be a bunch of war daddies up there, and to have someone like you is friggin’ awesome.”

(UPDATE: The Packers did not sign Marshall.)

Tight end Johnny Lumpkin, who recently signed with Green Bay’s practice team, also participated in the session.

As a rookie for Denver, Williams, 24, appeared in two games and made one start. His sole career grab was for 34 yards. After spending the previous two seasons on Jacksonville’s practice squad, he caught three catches for 15 yards in preseason with the Jaguars.

In three years at Auburn, he caught 132 passes for 2,124 yards (16.1 average) and 17 touchdowns.

When questioned about his strongest characteristic after being picked by the Broncos, he replied, “Just being able to catch those contested receptions and balls. Being able to be physical off the line and overcome my own defender, allowing me to make the big play. I don’t shy away from huge moments. I’m prepared for every [moment].

Broncos GM George Paton stated, “He’s like a piece of clay. He’s very talented, big, and can run. As a receiver, he simply needs to be shaped.”

McMath, 25, caught two passes for 8 yards as a rookie and two passes for 40 yards in 2022.

He spent part of 2023 on the Colts’ practice squad before joining the Cowboys for training camp this summer. He grabbed five catches for 80 yards in the preseason.

During his four seasons at LSU, he caught 33 receptions for 522 yards (15.8 average). Three of his four touchdowns occurred in 2019.

The 24-year-old Luther has not appeared in a regular-season game. He spent the majority of his rookie season on the Patriots’ practice squad. This year, he attended training camp with the Steelers but did not catch a pass.

As a senior at Gardner-Webb in 2022, he caught 55 receptions for 1,035 yards (18.8 average) with seven touchdowns.
