CJ Baxter Jr., Texas football

Neither Texas football nor the Michigan Wolverines had any new injury updates of note coming out of each team’s respective regular season openers in Week 1 last Saturday. Texas enters the most critical non-conference game of the regular season this weekend on the road in Ann Arbor against the defending National Champion Michigan.

Head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns showed off their depth and talent, getting over 70 players live-game reps in the Week 1 win over the Colorado State Rams, 52-0 on Aug. 31. Texas looked like it was in complete control on both sides of the ball in dominant shutout victory last weekend against Colorado State.

The season opener win for the Longhorns helped build momentum and confidence in key areas for Sarkisian’s squad before the Michigan game in Week 2. It also helps that Texas doesn’t have any major or new notable injuries entering this top 10 contest against the defending champs.

Here’s a look at the full injury report for the Week 2 matchup between No. 3 Texas and No. 10 Michigan at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor on Sep. 7 at 11 a.m. CT.

Texas football injury report vs. Michigan

CJ Baxter Jr., RB (Out)

Christian Clark, RB (Out)

Texas’s two injuries on the report for this week are the same we had in Week 1. Sophomore running back CJ Baxter Jr. is out for the 2024 season after he suffered a torn ligament in his knee during fall practice. Baxter underwent successful surgery on his knee in Dallas a couple of weeks ago.

True freshman Christian Clark is the other season-ending running back injury the Longhorns had during fall practice. Clark suffered a torn Achilles on a non-contact play in team drills during fall practice in August.

Michigan injury report vs. Texas

Joe Taylor, WR (Questionable)

Jack Tuttle, QB (Questionable)

Rod Moore, S (Out)

After they missed Week 1 for Michigan due to various injury issues, wide receiver Joe Taylor and quarterback Jack Tuttle are listed as questionable for Week 2 against the Longhorns.

Senior safety Rod Moore is out for Week 2 after he suffered a torn ACL during spring practice for the Wolverines.
