Despite a report indicating differently, Milan Lucic is not signing with the New Jersey Devils.

Edmonton Oilers radio color analyst Bob Stauffer on “Oilers Now” claims the New Jersey Devils have signed free agent forward Milan Lucic to a professional tryout deal.

Reported to be signing a PTO contract with the Devils, Lucic spent three seasons with the Oilers from 2016-19.
James Nichols, a New Jersey Hockey Now reporter covering from the Devils, swiftly contradicted the narrative, stating they have not and cannot sign Lucic.

There is no contract for Lucic, who still needs to be reinstated by the NHL, according Canucks reporter Rick Dhaliwal verified by Lucic’s agent Gerry Johannson.

Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff earlier in the offseason noted that Lucic’s arrest on domestic abuse allegations kept him off-limits to return to the league.

Later on, the accusations were withdrawn following his wife’s decision not to testify, citing marital privilege before courts. Lucic, who is presently in the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program, is not clearly restored to return at this time.
