Prior to the 2024 season, the Jets agree to a rare divisional trade (report).
The New York Jets only plan on winning the Super Bowl in 2024. Almost any team that Aaron Rodgers plays for will have that expectation. This off-season, New York has strengthened its defense, wide receiving group, and offensive line.
But instead of merely cutting one rookie, they are splitting ways with him this time.
In-division trade: According to a source, the Jets sent late-round 2026 draft selections to the Bills in exchange for DB/returner Brandon Codrington.
After being left undrafted out of North Carolina Central, Codrington signed with the Jets this season. Although Codrington was an excellent punt returner in college, he had a breakthrough preseason for the Jets, making large returns on kickoffs as well as punts.
The Jets probably wanted something in return for Codrington instead of just cutting him, given that they used Xavier Gipson in the return game in 2023. Buffalo moved quickly to seize the opportunity.
