Why the White Sox Will Cover the Spread and Win
Garrett Crochet is a great pitcher, but he’s reached his limit. The White Sox ace is coming off a strong start against the Houston Astros, but he hasn’t been pitching deep into games. Crochet, on the other hand, should be able to shut down the Giants in about four innings. He boasts one of the MLB’s top strikeout percentages and does a superb job of limiting heavy contact. If he can keep the White Sox in the game, Chicago should be able to cover this spread.

It’s no secret that the White Sox have struggled offensively this season. Logan Webb isn’t one to let up too many hits, either. However, the White Sox hit with more power against right-handed pitchers. Logan Webb has a.255 oBA, so if the White Sox can make some hard contact, they should be able to keep this game within reach.

Why the Giants Will Cover the Spread and Win
Logan Webb is now tossing lights out. In August, Webb has made three starts, thrown 20.1 innings, allowed only 12 hits, and has an ERA of 0.89. He has also pitched at least seven innings in two of his three starts. Webb should have no trouble getting deep into the game against the White Sox at home. With his ability to pitch at home and the White Sox’s offensive troubles, the Giants will win this game.

As previously said, the White Sox have a poor offensive performance. They rank last in the MLB in batting average, slugging percentage, home runs, walks taken, and total runs. Chicago’s lack of offensive talent is the reason they have the worst record in the MLB. Webb should be able to go deep into this game, induce weak contact, and shut the White Sox down.

Final White Sox-Giants Prediction and Pick
I do not believe this game will be particularly close. Logan Webb is excellent, and Garrett Crochet has a limited number of innings left this season. I’ll take the Giants to win this game and cover the spread.
