LeBron James and Kevin Hart laughing together

Along with legendary comedian Kevin Hart, LeBron James was featured in a Draft Kings sports betting commercial. Something hilarious was likely to happen in the skit with Hart in it. The comic did, in fact, make fun of James’ advanced years and his desire to play in the NFL.

At the beginning of the comedy, James loudly announced receiving an NFL betting offer from Draft Kings. Since Hart had no idea what the Los Angeles Lakers player was getting at, he brutally roasted the King, allowing his intrusive thoughts to win.

“Isn’t it a bit late for you to play football?” Not a 40-year-old, but someone who can run a 40 is what they’re after. Your response to the coach calling your number will be “G 56! Bingo!” How you gonna celebrate a win? Is butterscotch candy going to be distributed to all? Prolly out your pocket with no wrappers on. Just give them uncooked sweets. That’s horrible by the way.”

LeBron James is still the best at 40

LeBron James is turning 40 years old this coming December but isn’t showing any indications of substantially slowing down. There have been some hints in recent memory that James is becoming old, nevertheless, he still manages to stay at the top of his game. Despite his recent struggle to seek his fifth ring, LeBron has undoubtedly been the best player on the Los Angeles Lakers club with Anthony Davis in it.

Since shifting to his late 30s, he is still frequently being chosen an All-Star. James also broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s scoring mark, which is a strong sign that the Lakers great can still put up enormous numbers. Looking at his numbers from previous season, LeBron put up 25.7 points, 8.3 assists, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game. He also shot an efficient 54.0% from the field despite naysayers believing that he isn’t an adept shooter.

Now that he’s approaching 40 years of age, it’s still acceptable to claim that James is the best basketball player in the world. During the 2024 Olympics, he was surrounded by a profusion of NBA All-Stars in Team USA. Despite having a loaded team, LeBron was still awarded the MVP of the event on top of winning the gold medal. To be awarded the winner and the most valued player in an international event is an indirect proclamation that he is the best player in the world.

Given his most recent success, it’ll be interesting to see what other records James can establish as a 40-year-old and as the oldest player in the NBA.
