Collingwood’s Head of High Performance Jarrod Wade has issued an injury update ahead of the Magpies’ Round 23 match against Brisbane on Saturday.

Harvey Harrison

Harvey Harrison will miss the remainder of the 2024 AFL season after examinations over the weekend revealed a damaged anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee.

The 20-year-old sustained the injury during a non-contact exercise in Collingwood’s Round 20 VFL match with Sydney on Friday.

The forward will meet with the surgeon this week to discuss next steps.

TO BE ASSESSED THIS WEEK:

Josh Eyre

Josh Eyre had a corked hip in Collingwood’s Round 20 VFL match against Sydney last Friday.

The 21-year-old attempted to return to the pitch but was unable to finish the match.

To be eligible for selection, the forward must participate in mobility sessions throughout the week.

Iliro Smit

Iliro Smit is still working through the AFL’s concussion protocols.

The 19-year-old must complete both non-contact and contact training this week before being considered for selection.

OTHER UPDATES:

Aiden Begg

Aiden Begg’s rehabilitation continues. The 21-year-old has been forced to stop jogging due to swelling in his knee.

Jordan DeGoey

Jordan De Goey is making good progress with his hamstring recovery.

The midfielder has begun his rehabilitation program, including some pool work.

Ash Johnson

Ash Johnson has entered the AFL concussion protocol following a collision with the turf during a tackle in the second quarter of Collingwood’s Round 20 VFL match against Sydney.

The forward has been cleared of any cheek injuries.

Brody Mihocek

Brody Mihocek is making good progress with his pectoral muscle healing.

The surgeon and the high-performance staff have cleared the forward to begin a mild running program, with the goal of gradually increasing intensity and volume in the following weeks.

Tom Mitchell

Tom Mitchell is still working through his rehabilitation program with the goal of returning to football in 2025.

The midfielder has been doing an inside modified training regimen to strengthen his foot.

Oscar Steene

Oscar Steene is still working through a rehabilitation program for his toe injury.

This week, the 20-year-old plans to ramp up his running regimen.
