Royals wallop White Sox 10-3 to complete sweepFreddy Fermin had four hits, including a two-run home run, and Salvador Perez had three hits and two RBIs as the visiting Kansas City Royals defeated the Chicago White Sox 10-3 on Wednesday to complete the series sweep.

Brady Singer earned the win for the Royals after pitching seven solid innings.

Chicago suffered its franchise-worst 17th consecutive defeat, while being swept for the 17th time this season.

Kansas City, who finished 12-1 against Chicago, won three of the four series between the two teams.

The Royals won Wednesday’s matinee thanks to a sustained offense, which provided enough of support for Singer (8-6), who allowed three runs and six hits while striking out four. The Royals pitchers issued no walks throughout the game.

The Royals outhit the White Sox 16–6. Maikel Garcia, Bobby Witt Jr., and Vinnie Pasquantino all had multiple hit games. Pasquantino and Fermin both drove in three runs.

Pasquantino started the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning, and Fermin extended the lead with his homer against White Sox starter Drew Thorpe.

The White Sox answered in the bottom of the second, with four of the first five batters reaching base against Singer. Andrew Benintendi (two hits) opened the scoring for Chicago with a two-run double and later scored on Dominic Fletcher’s RBI single.

Kansas City took little time to reclaim the lead. Witt drew a walk to lead off the fourth, stole second, and scored on Perez’ RBI single.

Witt extended his hitting run to 13 games and recorded his 46th multi-hit game of the season.

In the fifth, the Royals added two insurance runs on Perez’s RBI double and Hunter Renfroe’s run-scoring sacrifice fly. They scored four runs and had six hits in the eighth, with Pasquantino’s two-run homer off Sammy Peralta capping the outburst.

Thorpe (3-3) lost his second consecutive start despite pitching six scoreless innings in a no-decision against Kansas City on July 21. In five innings, the rookie gave up six runs and a career-high seven hits while walking two. He recorded zero strikeouts for the second time in nine outings.

Chicago dropped to 57 games below.500.
