Jazz Chisholm Jr. has been a revelation in his brief tenure with the New York Yankees. He smashed four home runs in his first three games, including the game-winning shot in Tuesday’s triumph over the Philadelphia Phillies. The Yankees made the move ahead of the MLB trade deadline, amid reports of clubhouse issues. Fans are mainly pleased with Jazz Chisholm’s tenure thus far, although others are upset over his belt.

The belt says “We Are Not The Same” and is a very Marlins-like green color. There is no news on whether Chisholm has ordered a replacement belt. The belt isn’t the only thing attracting attention. Trevor Plouffe, a former third baseman and current pundit, mentioned another fashion decision on Jomboy Media’s “Talkin’ Baseball” podcast.

“I was shocked to see that. “First appearance in a Yankees uniform, hat backwards and green belt.” Plouffe spoke. “I’ve never seen it…” When was the last time you saw a Yankees player wearing their hat backwards?

Chisholm is obviously adding his own style to the Yankee uniform, which is not typically connected with the team. Juan Soto has flipped his helmet backward, and many of the team members are wearing fluorescent green safety pads. None of those items appear to have elicited the reaction that Chisholm’s outfit has.

Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s Impact on the Yankees

New York Yankees third base Jazz Chisholm Jr. (13) hits a three RBI home run during the seventh inning against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park

Jazz Chisholm Jr. (13), third base for the New York Yankees, knocks a three-run home run against the Philadelphia Phillies in the seventh inning at Citizens Bank Park.

Jazz Chisholm epitomizes everything the Yankees sought at the MLB trade deadline. Their infield defense was awful, particularly at third base. He also delivers a lefty bat, which has helped to steady the lineup and add outfield depth for the stretch run. Chisholm had never played third base before joining the Yankees, but he has performed admirably in his limited time there. He has also played center field for one game, giving Aaron Judge a day as designated hitter.

His defensive influence pales in compared to his offensive prowess during his brief tenure in pinstripes. He struggled in his first game, going 1-5 but scoring a run with good base running. After that, the power began to surge. Chisholm’s two home runs in successive games propelled the Yankees to a series victory in Philadelphia.

The clubhouse concerns appear to be overstated, as he has fit in nicely with the team. The television cameras caught Chisholm holding Aaron Judge’s bat up to the camera, indicating that he used the captain’s bat to hit his second home run on Monday. The camera then captured Chisholm rejoicing with his teammates.

The Yankees are having a must-win season. With Juan Soto’s presence guaranteed just for this season, they must maximize their chances of winning the World Series in 2024. The inclusion of Jazz Chisholm brings accountability to players at practically every position.

DJ LeMahieu, Oswaldo Cabrera, and Trent Grisham will be motivated to produce when they do get at-bats because they know Chisholm has the ability to take those opportunities away. Jazz Chisholm Jr. has brought a much-needed spark for the Yankees, regardless of the color of his belt or how he wears his hat.
