Jarrod Wade, Collingwood’s Head of High Performance, has offered an injury update ahead of the Magpies’ Round 21 showdown against Carlton.

Beau McCreery

Beau McCreery will be ready for selection in this Saturday’s AFL game against Carlton after returning to full training following a calf injury. The forward undertook game-like training loads over the weekend.

Joe Richards

Joe Richards missed Collingwood’s Round 20 game against Richmond due to illness.

The 24-year-old is healing and is scheduled to return to primary training later this week, making him ready for selection.

Jordan DeGoey

Jordan De Goey will be evaluated ahead of Round 21 after missing Sunday’s Round 20 match against Richmond due to lingering groin pain. The midfielder rested, recovered, and received treatment over the weekend, and will need to check off a few boxes during training this week to be considered for selection.

Collingwood’s medical experts will analyze De Goey’s ability to accelerate and finish football drills as part of this evaluation.

OTHER UPDATES:

Iliro Smit

Following Collingwood’s Round 18 VFL game against Richmond, Iliro Smit developed concussion-related symptoms and failed an HIA test.

The ruck has entered the AFL concussion protocol and will go through each stage with the assistance of Collingwood’s medical staff.

Nathan Krueger

Nathan Kreuger is still working through the AFL’s concussion protocols after suffering a head hit in Round 19. It is believed that the forward will be released next week.

Tom Mitchell

Tom Mitchell has maintained the status quo in his recovery from a foot ailment.

The 31-year-old has resumed mild jogging workouts indoors but has not started running outside. The timing for his return has yet to be defined.

Brody Mihocek

Brody Mihocek has begun rehabilitation and movement to achieve full range of motion in his pectoral muscles. The forward has successfully completed aerobic, cycle, and lower body weight training. The forward will be wearing a sling for at least another fortnight and will take six to eight weeks to recover fully.

Oscar Steene

Oscar Steene is making progress in his rehab program following a toe injury, completing two running sessions per week. The ruck will continue to train in the gym before moving on to the field, with a comeback to football planned for 2025.

Aiden Begg

Aiden Begg has completed his first outdoor running session, which is a promising development for the Ruck. The 21-year-old is also receiving athletic development training and plans to steadily increase his weights and intensity as he looks ahead to 2025.
