Honoka Hayashi

Everton have signed Honoka Hayashi, a midfielder whose contract with West Ham expired.

The 26-year-old Japanese international made 50 appearances for the Hammers over two seasons.

She is now on international duty at the Paris Olympics, where Japan faces tournament favourites Spain on Thursday.

Hayashi stated, “I am honoured to join such a big club as Everton.”

“I was looking for a new challenge, and I will do everything I can to help the club succeed.”

The length of Hayashi’s contract has not been disclosed. She is Everton’s third summer acquisition, joining Toni Payne and Ines Pereira.

“Honoka is someone I believe can help take our game to the next level,” manager Brian Sorenson stated.

“I’ve learned more about this league over the last two years, and it can be ruthless, so you need experienced players with younger members of the club.

“I believe we have that blend presently. A mature but young team, which I believe will be important for us next season.”
