Stephen A. Smith is ESPN’s most prominent commentator, and his encounters with sports stars provide plenty of material for discussion.

The analyst has strong feelings about almost everything in sports, and his encounters with Los Angeles Lakers legend LeBron James have recently come under scrutiny.

Smith spoke with The OGs Show about his friendship with James and how much he admires the NBA legend on and off the court.

He stated that he is indifferent with his relationship with the NBA’s all-time greatest scorer, but did agree that James is indeed “great.”

Smith went on: “I know he’s a great father, a great family man, a great basketball ambassador, a great role model.”

He also indicated support for James’ purchase of an ownership part in a potential new NBA club in Las Vegas.

The ESPN face recalled previous critiques of James, stating that he did not relish calling out the superstar for being “scared to shoot in the fourth quarter” during the Lakers’ playoff loss to the Mavericks.

Smith also chastised LeBron for what he described as a “slick way” of avoiding basketball criticism by immediately bringing up kids and the community whenever anyone questioned his play.

There is no questioning LeBron James’ greatness or the legacy of his four NBA titles to date.

He led his current squad to the championship in 2020 and would love to add another trophy to his collection before hanging up his sneakers.

That appears to necessitate some lineup alterations in Los Angeles.

However, another title at this point in his career would negate whatever Smith or anybody else could say poorly about his playing.
