A little more than a week ago, the Los Angeles Lakers selected Bronny James with the 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Bronny is now with the Lakers, alongside his father, LeBron James. LeBron has always wanted to play in the NBA with his son, and they are now teammates. Bronny made his NBA debut in the summer league on Saturday, and things did not go well.
Bronny James suffered during his first and only season with the USC basketball team, and he also struggled in his first NBA Summer League game. Many people doubted Bronny’s draft prospects following his dismal season, yet he is currently with LeBron James and the Lakers.
The Lakers faced the Sacramento Kings in summer league action on Saturday, and the Kings won 108-94. Bronny shot 2-9 from the floor and finished with only four points. At the end of the day, LeBron doesn’t care how many points Bronny gets. He simply wants him to continue to improve as a player.
“What he does in the California Classic and Summer League doesn’t matter whether he plays well or not,” LeBron stated, according to an NBA.com article. “I simply want him to keep growing via practices, film sessions, and his individual workouts. You can’t take anything stat-wise from the California Classic and Summer League and apply it once the season begins. The only thing that matters is that he gets well and accumulates days.”
