Alabama football may have found its first real freshman superstar in the Kalen DeBoer era.

DeBoer attended the Reese’s Senior Bowl celebrity golf tournament in Mobile, Alabama, on Monday.

He, Kane Wommack, Nate Oats, and DeMeco Ryans participated in the event alongside Jim Nagy. Simone Eli, the TV Sports Director and Host for WKRG TV in Mobile, interviewed Coach DeBoer. Eli covered Ryan Williams, a five-star wide receiver, at Saraland (Ala.) High School. DeBoer is thrilled with how fast Williams has integrated into the team.

“It has been so amazing to see the transformation, on top of how quickly he’s fit in here,” DeBoer said of Williams.

“It can be challenging for new players to adjust to the team’s expectations, but he’s done his part.” He has gone about his business and demonstrated that he will be an excellent player here. I’m delighted about his progress, and he absorbs information so well. He processes and has made the move really smooth.”

Williams was two-time “Mr. Football” in Alabama and two-time Gatorade Player of the Year.

He led Saraland High School to a Class 6A State Championship in 2022 and almost won it again last year.

Alabama supporters are excited to see him thrive in the autumn.
