The 2024 Major League Baseball trade deadline is less than a month away

The deadline is July 30th, and we are officially in the month of July. The 2024 MLB season is moving quickly, and teams don’t have much time to decide what their intentions will be before the deadline.

Many clubs are still considering whether to purchase or sell this summer, but the New York Yankees have made it obvious that they will acquire. They have been one of baseball’s finest teams, and a strong deadline may propel them to the top.

New York needs an infield boost, and Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon has been mentioned as a trade candidate by The Athletic’s Chris Kirschner, Brendan Kuty, and Jim Bowden.

“The Yankees get (third baseman) Ryan McMahon, while the Rockies get (right-handed pitcher) Will Warren and (outfielder) Brandon Mayea,” Kirschner, Kuty, and Bowden added. “If Colorado makes McMahon available, the competition for him will undoubtedly be fierce.” However, he is currently in the middle of a career year at the plate (124 OPS+). The Yankees won’t want to spend too much. However, the 29-year-old McMahon will most likely be their daily third baseman through the 2027 season.

This season, New York has had substantially less offensive productivity from third base than predicted. Adding McMahon would surely address that, as he has 14 home runs and 42 RBIs in 81 games this season.
