Despite opting out of his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James is widely expected to sign a new contract with them.
That’s not surprising given that the Lakers have made a number of decisions that will thrill him, including choosing his friend and business partner as his new coach and selecting his son in the second round of the NBA Draft.

Now, it appears that James may finally give them something in return.

According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, James may consider accepting a pay cut to help the organization sign important free agents (via NBA Central).

Apparently, James would be prepared to accept less money if it meant obtaining someone in the mold of James Harden, Klay Thompson, or Jonas Valanciunas.

To be honest, this should have always been the case, regardless of who can sign.

LeBron is literally a billionaire, but the Lakers are simply not good enough to compete for the NBA championship.

We’ve seen some players take pay cuts for the benefit of the team, and if he wants to win another championship before retiring, that may be his only option.
