According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN:

JJ Redick claims he’s already spoken with Anthony Davis about ideas for next season. One he shared with us is “the idea of him as a hub”—he didn’t give his name, but consider how Denver handles things via Nikola Jokic.

There is no doubt that Davis remains one of the NBA’s finest players. Last season, he averaged 24.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game, shooting 55.6 percent from the field and 62.1 true shooting percentage.

Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka stated that Davis “was very involved” in Redick’s hiring (h/t CBS Sports), which may easily be read as a hint of how much he believes Redick can enhance his performance on the court and ultimate takeover as the uncontested alpha in Los Angeles. LeBron James is still with the organization, but he won’t be in Los Angeles – or the NBA for that matter – for several more years, since he turns 40 in December.
