According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Sam Amick, and Jovan Buha, new Lakers coach JJ Redick recently presented his plans for LeBron James and Anthony Davis in a “impressive” meeting with team management.

“Redick described a system moulded around this roster, focusing on elevating Anthony Davis’ involvement, particularly late in games, and alleviating the constant ballhandling duties on James by utilising him more off the ball,” according to the source.

“Keeping James, who turns 40 in December, fresh down the stretch of the regular season and into the playoffs will be critical.”

JJ Redick Hired as Lakers Coach: A Controversial Pick?
Keeping James fresh will be an interesting issue for Redick.

Darvin Ham, the previous Lakers coach, attempted to limit James’ minutes when he took over two years ago, but that strategy was abandoned almost immediately. The squad was overly reliant on James’ productivity, and it was evident he didn’t want to sit on the bench for extended periods of time.

If Redick has comparable objectives, he may not be in the best position to lay down the law, given his lack of high-level coaching experience.

His tenure as Lakers coach will be an intriguing test of his relationship with James.
