Caitlin Clark (Fever) as MTG character Kenrith

Despite all of the criticism and pressure she faces, Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark continues to prove that she belongs in the WNBA. On Wednesday night, the former Iowa Hawkeyes standout put on a display, contributing significantly to the Fever’s 88-81 victory over the Washington Mystics at home.

Clark finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds. With such stats, she achieved a statistical milestone not seen in the WNBA since 2007, according to StatMamba.

“Caitlin Clark is the first rookie guard to have multiple double-doubles in a season since 2007.”

Clark’s other double-double game this season came in a 78-73 away win over the Los Angeles Sparks in May, when she had 11 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists, and four steals. Everyone knows Clark can score, but her ability to create space for her teammates and find them for scoring opportunities is one of the many skills that make her such a potent offensive weapon. Clark is also putting up terrific effort on defence, as she leads the Fever in steals and had many multi-block games.

Producing impressive numbers while also winning games highlights Clark’s value to the Fever, who are presently 6-10 on the season.

In addition to her double-digit scoring and rebounding output against the Mystics, Clark had six assists and four steals while shooting 6/12 from the field and 2/6 from behind the arc in 27 minutes of excellent performance. The top overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft appears to be transitioning well in the pros, and she is likely only scraping the surface of her entire potential.

Caitlin Clark wasn’t the only Fever to deliver a strong effort in the Mystics encounter.

Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston both scored 22 points and combined for 11 rebounds. The Fever shot 50.8 percent from the field and 8/23 from three-point range.

Clark and the Fever, who are currently on a three-game winning streak, will aim to continue their success as they begin a road trip against the Atlanta Dream on Friday.

Caitlin Clark’s latest feat has admirers going crazy.

Clark has regained popularity on social media as a result of her performance against the Mystics, with supporters praising her continuously.

“Rookie of the Year”

“I thought one WNBA player mentioned that all Clark did was shoot threes and that the league is so difficult that Clark is suffering, thus this can’t be true because many of the other wonderful superstars (can’t remember any of their names right now) surely did this multiple times. “It has to be wrong.”

“Should’ve had a triple double😭”

“Every other night she’s the First rookie to do something or since and she’s not even playing close to her best, after that 3 week Olympic break I would expect multiple 30 point games”

“This Young Lady has done an Excellent Job both on and off the court”
“Yeah and she’s not ready to be on the Olympic team 🙄”

“I was told that her only expertise was shooting threes. 18 points/12 rebounds/6 assists/4 steals. “Is that good????”

“Hatin on Caitlin getting harder and harder”

“But she isn’t good enough for the Olympic team.” Disgraceful.”

Lady Mamba!!!

“Yep. She got me interested in the WNBA.”
