Carlos Alcaraz vs Jack Draper: 2024 Cinch Championships - Preview & Prediction

Carlos Alcaraz will meet native player Jack Draper at the 2024 Cinch Championships, which will be a difficult challenge for him.

Draper recently had the zenith of his career, collecting the championship at the Stuttgart Open. He closed off an incredible week by defeating grass specialist Matteo Berrettini in three sets, and he now aims to carry that momentum into the ATP 500 tournament at the Queen’s Club.

He has played some exceptional tennis in London in recent years, reaching the quarterfinals in 2021 and the second round in 2022. Alcaraz began his 2024 Queen’s campaign with a win as well, although nearly losing the second set before rallying to keep it in two, but he is the reigning champion.

He won this event last year, so he understands how to perform well on these courts. Both are decent grass players, but Draper is considerably more natural and will be filled with confidence after winning in Stuttgart.

Head-to-head:
So far, the two have played twice, and Alcaraz has won both, albeit the second by retirement. It’s an intriguing battle since the Brit can hurt the world’s number two player.

He has a solid serve and moves effectively on grass, making him challenging to play. In reality, if he had to beat the Spaniard on a single surface, it would most likely be grass, given Alcaraz won the other two hard-court meetings.

The Spaniard is still rusty on grass, and he will certainly struggle in this match. His return will be critical because if he doesn’t push Draper’s serve, he’ll be in big danger.

Prediction: While Draper may put pressure on Alcaraz, I believe he will find a way to win.

Prediction: Carlos Alcaraz to win in three sets.
