SIEGEL SEALS MULTI-YEAR DEAL WITH ARROW MCLAREN; POURCHAIRE OUT
Nolan Siegel has signed a multi-year contract with Arrow McLaren and will race the rest of the 2024 IndyCar season.

The 19-year-old will drive the team’s No. 6 Chevrolet beginning with this weekend’s round at Laguna Seca.

Arrow McLaren has announced the signing of Nolan Siegel to a multi-year contract that will begin with this weekend’s IndyCar Series race at Laguna Seca.

Siegel, a 19-year-old California native, recently won the LMP2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with United Autosports, a team owned by McLaren CEO Zak Brown.

Siegel will take over the No. 6 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet from reigning Formula 2 champion Théo Pourchaire, who was just revealed as the team’s driver for the rest of the 2024 season, except for the Indianapolis 500.The 20-year-old Frenchman was first brought in as a substitute while David Malukas, who was later dismissed by the team and joined Meyer Shank Racing, recovered from a preseason injury that required surgery.Arrow McLaren’s Team Principal, Gavin Ward, emphasized the importance of stability and growth in their long-term strategy..

“I’d like to thank Théo for filling in on the No. 6 car for us in recent weeks. We’ve been working through musical chairs all season, and finally, making this change to Nolan now that he’s available gives us the opportunity to build a foundation for the future. He is a young, talented driver with a wealth of experience at this point in his career, and we are delighted to continue on the path of growth together.”

According to the team’s press announcement, Siegel will drive the entry “for the 10 remaining races this season, as well as 2025 and beyond.”

In taking on the post with Arrow McLaren, he will forego the remainder of his sophomore season in Indy NXT with HMD Motorsports, where he finished fourth in the championship.

Siegel’s diverse driving portfolio also includes LMP2 victories in IMSA with CrowdStrike Racing during the 2023 campaign, which came in the Six Hours of The Glen and Petit Le Mans. He also helped claim an LMP2 win in the Asian Le Mans Series later that same season with Inter Europol Competition.

A roller coaster year for Siegel.
Siegel had an early taste of the IndyCar Series this year, making his debut with Dale Coyne Racing in a non-points exhibition at The Thermal Club in March. He also drove for the team in Long Beach (finishing 20th, his current career high) and missed making the field of 33 after a go-for-broke attempt that resulted in an accident in Indy 500 qualifying.

Siegel withdrew from his Indy NXT race at Road America in favor of replacing Agustin Canapino at Juncos Hollinger Racing.

“I’m looking forward to jumping right in with the Arrow McLaren team this week and confirming my place in the NTT IndyCar Series in papaya moving forward,” said Siegel, the 2023 Indy NXT Rookie of the Year.

“This is an unexpected move, but I’m happy to be in this position following a successful season with HMD Motorsports in the Indy NXT by Firestone series. I am excited to embark on this new journey and learn alongside the entire team, which begins this weekend in my home state.
