Rafael Nadal, a tennis legend, and Carlos Alcaraz, a three-time Grand Slam winner, will team up for the 2024 Paris Olympics. On Wednesday, the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET) confirmed that Nadal and Alcaraz will represent Spain in the Olympics in doubles.
Given Nadal and Alcaraz’s fame, this announcement is a significant boost to the Olympic tennis event.

Nadal, who has 22 Grand Slam titles and is regarded as one of the best tennis players of all time, is nearing the conclusion of his career, and the Olympics could be one of his last professional appearances. Alcaraz, on the other hand, is a rising talent regarded as tennis’ next great thing.

Nadal has already represented Spain in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. He won the gold medal in singles in 2008 and the gold medal in doubles in 2016, partnering with Marc Lopez. Alcaraz is expected to make his Olympic debut.

Aside from doubles, Nadal and Alcaraz will also compete in the singles tournament.

“The Olympic Games are every four years, and it’s a special tournament where you’re not only playing for yourself but for a country, representing every Spaniard,” Alcaraz said. “I think this year I’d choose Olympic gold.”
