Buffalo Bills

The offence has been the buzz of the offseason; how will the Bills fare without Stefon Diggs, and can the Bills offence remain one of the best? Who accepts responsibility for this offence?

This year, the Buffalo Bills have several breakout contenders. With so many new faces and unknowns surrounding the unit, it’s reasonable to expect someone to break out, right? Please do not mistake this list or my intentions. I’m not suggesting that all five of the people on my list will break out, or that any of them will, but these are the five I believe have the most potential to do so. Also, when it comes to breakout offensive players, the first thing that comes to mind is skill position players such as wide receivers, running backs, tight ends, and quarterbacks. The term “skill position” is a slap in the face for all offensive linemen. They have abilities, too, and I challenge anyone to try to do what they do. I needed to add one to my list.

The Bills are depending on one or two of these players to break out this season, and it doesn’t have to be from this group. If someone else rises, that’s terrific. The Bills’ offence will be OK with Josh Allen under centre, but he’ll need someone to be his go-to guy, someone he can rely on to be there when he needs to be. Buffalo will most likely run the ball more this season, as we saw in the second part of last season, which should lead to someone breaking out in the running game, but who could that be? Let’s get to it.

Five Buffalo Bills that could break out in 2024

Khalil Shakir has become a fan favourite since his mini-breakout sophomore season last year. From Week One on, his snap share gradually grew, and in Week Seven, he earned four passing game targets, all of which he converted into receptions, and he continued to play major snaps after that. He concluded the year with 45 receptions for 611 yards and two scores. He added 10 receptions, 75 yards, and two touchdowns in two playoff games. Shakir has the ability to become Allen’s number one, becoming a household name outside of the Bills fanbase and having a truly breakout season.
