Matt Milano’s leg ailment was supposed to keep him out of practice until training camp, but the veteran linebacker worked out during this week’s minicamp. Coach Sean McDermott told reporters, including Tyler Dunne of GoLongTD.com, that Milano was a limited participant in last week’s practice.

While Milano isn’t fully recovered, this is a positive update. McDermott stated that Milano would spend the most of minicamp on individual work. The linebacker is officially labelled “day-to-day,” but there is anticipation that he will be able to fully participate before training camp. Even yet, McDermott stated that the veteran may be brought along slowly as he recovers from a fractured leg.

“One day at a time,” McDermott said (via Matthew Fairburn and Tim Graham of The Athletic), “and ideally tomorrow, assuming things stay manageable overnight, we’ll continue to grow through the break that we’re going to take. Then, perhaps, during training camp, he’ll be in a position to be available when we have a space open. It’s simply a matter of “trying to put practices back to back.”

We previously heard that Milano was on track with his recuperation, but that it would “probably be closer to training camp” before he saw the pitch again. The linebacker’s early start can only be considered as a plus for the Bills.

Milano broke his leg during Buffalo’s trip to London last October. Prior to it, the seven-year veteran had made 30 tackles, one forced fumble, and two interceptions in five games. This followed a great 2022 season in which Milano was named first-team All-Pro after recording 99 tackles, three interceptions, and 11 passes defensed.

With Milano out from practices, the Bills might have given additional reps to Dorian Williams, Baylon Spector, and rookie fifth-round pick Edefuan Ulofoshio, but all three are now sidelined with injuries (via The Athletic).
