Colts owner Jim Irsay makes first ‘on-camera appearance’ since recent health issues

Jim Irsay, the owner of the Indianapolis Colts, looks to be in better condition, as he made his first ‘public appearance’ in a long time via a personally posted social media recording.

Jim Irsay, the owner of the Indianapolis Colts, made his first on-camera appearance on Wednesday after suffering recent health concerns, including apparently recovering from serious lower back and leg surgery in the last several months.

The 64-year-old Irsay taped a short clip for X before taping his presentation for former Colts all-time great pass rusher Dwight Freeney’s enshrinement ceremony into the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2024 on Saturday, August 3rd at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. Freeney chose Irsay as his honorary presenter.

While Irsay’s health has been largely kept private—and rightfully so—he has previously stated to the local media that he has been rehabilitating from both a major low back and leg procedure in recent months, and was also reportedly found unresponsive at his personal residence in December of this year. During the late April NFL Draft, Irsay was not present at team headquarters, but instead participated electronically in the draft war room. Colts general manager Chris Ballard stated earlier this summer that he is still involved in the team’s day-to-day decisions and affairs.

At any rate, it appears like Irsay’s personal health is improving, which could pave the way for him to be more active with the club in-person as training camp and the 2024 season approach—an positive indication.
