Derrick Henry, who spent years as the Tennessee Titans’ main point on offense, is now embracing a drastically different position with the Ravens.

Henry has no difficulty giving quarterback Lamar Jackson some of the spotlight in Baltimore. In fact, he stated that it is a comfort to have a colleague who can divert attention away from him and compel him to shoulder less of the strain.

“It’ll be fun and a breath of fresh air not to be the center of attention, knowing that eyes will also be on him,” Henry remarked Tuesday, according to Ryan Mink of the team’s official website.

Although he will have to give up part of the spotlight, Henry understands that a defense that focuses elsewhere will only benefit him. He led the conference in carries four times during his tenure with Tennessee, including 378 in 2020. The Ravens have said he would still get a lot of touches if everything goes as planned, and they may simply be more effective carries.

Henry appeared to lose his step in 2020, but he still led the league with 280 carries. Taking some of the heat off of him may help him become more productive now that he is approaching 30.
