Kansas City, Missouri – Vinnie Pasquantino blasted a tiebreaking two-run double in Kansas City’s three-run fifth inning, helping the Royals defeat the Seattle Mariners 8-4 on Saturday.

Kyle Isbel got three RBIs for Kansas City, while Adam Frazier had two hits and scored twice. The Royals claimed their third consecutive victory.

Kansas City trailed 3-2 when Frazier doubled and scored on Nick Loftin’s single in the fifth inning. With two outs and runners on the corners, Pasquantino hit a grounder into the first base bag.

J.P. Crawford and Mitch Garver homered for Seattle, which suffered its third loss in four games. Crawford finished with two hits and two RBI.

Mariners right-hander Luis Castillo (5-7) let up a season-high five runs over five innings. He allowed six hits, four strikeouts, and one walk.

Crawford put Seattle up on Alec Marsh’s first pitch of the game, launching his sixth home run of the season. Crawford hit his 11th career leadoff homer.

Marsh retired the next 13 batters, eight on strikeouts, until Garver’s seventh homer tied the game at two with one out in the fifth inning.

The Mariners added another run with three straight two-out singles, capped by Crawford’s grounder through the middle.

Marsh (5-3) recorded a season-high eight strikeouts in five-plus innings. He was credited with four runs and seven hits.

Kansas City’s Maikel Garcia led off with a single in the first. He stole second, then scored on Salvador Perez’s single.

This was Garcia’s 15th theft of the season. He’s the first major leaguer to have stolen so many without getting caught.

In the second inning, Frazier scored his second home run on a single shot to right.

Isbel extended Kansas City’s lead to 7-4 in the sixth inning with a two-run double off Kirby Snead. Isbel also hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning.
