After missing out on the NBA Finals since 2020, LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers must be aching to return.

The Lakers finished the 2023–24 season strong, but the Denver Nuggets eliminated them from the NBA Playoffs in the first round. But after a difficult playoff run, the Dallas Mavericks were chosen to represent the Western Conference.

Dallas is currently playing the Boston Celtics, who are the clear favorites, and they are down 0–1 in the series after Dallas lost Game 1 away from home. While Kyrie Irving, his co-star, faltered, scoring just 12 points on 6-of-19 shooting, Luka Doncic had a fantastic Finals debut with 30 points and 10 rebounds.

Despite his difficult showing against his old team, Irving is remaining composed and credited James for teaching him valuable lessons, according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin:

At this point, Irving stated, “I’m able to use some of the formulas that I was taught from [James], some of the great teachers that have come before me, but we’re here in the present where we’re able to reflect.” “I feel like I’ve been destined for this because I’ve experienced some of the same things as some of the guys who have transcended the game in the past.”

Though they had a falling out at the end of their Cleveland Cavaliers days, James and Irving have since made up and are very close. Even after James called him the most talented player he had ever seen, Irving expressed his gratitude for James’ affection for him.

Irving has a knack for scoring when his team needs it most and is one of the NBA’s finest shotmakers at his best. Nobody will ever forget the clutch 3-pointer that Kyrie Irving made against the Golden State Warriors in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals, a shot that contributed to Cleveland winning its first-ever NBA title.

In the postseason, every game has a new meaning, and Irving should have better games remaining in the campaign. In order to help the Mavericks win the series again, his shooting and scoring will be essential.

Lakers’ LeBron James is upset that Kyrie Irving isn’t playing with him.
There was talk that Kyrie Irving will eventually be moved to the Lakers when he was still with the Brooklyn Nets. LeBron James acknowledged that he is upset about not playing with the all-star guard after Irving was traded to the Mavericks.
